Concept - Aptitude Simplification Basics-1



Given below more Multiplication Shortcuts and Tips!.

 

Multiplication by 9's :

 

Tip 1 : For multiplying a number by 9

First multiply number by 10 and then subtract the number from the product

First subtract 1 and then write b = a - 1.

Next, subtract b from 9;

Therefore c = 9 - b.

Then simply form b and c next to each other:
9a = bc.

Eg 1 :

a x 9 : For example to find 6 ×9

b: Ist subtract 5 ( 6 - 1)

c: then Subract the second Number 4 (9 - 5)

bc: Finally the product is 54

Tip 1 : To multiply a number by 99 is also same as the above.

Eg 1 :

For example to find 37 × 99

Ist subtract 36 ( 37 - 1)

then Subract the second Number 63 (99 - 36)

Finally the product is 3663

 

Practice following multiplication by 9's:

1)24 x 99 =

2)3768 x 9999 =

3)326 x 99999 =

4)4379 x 999999 =

5)43 x 99 =

 

Multiplication by 25 :

Tip! : Multiply a number by 25 is also very simple!

To multiply a number by 25, divide the number by 4 and then put two 0's at the end

or multiply the number by 4 and then product x 100

Eg 1 :

For example to find 16 × 25

Ist divide (16 / 4 ) 4 then two Zeros

Then 400

2)128 x 25 =

3)1344 x 25 =

4)12138 x 25 =

5)98756 x 25 =
