Reasoning

Sequence Concept :

There many types of Sequences viz. Number Sequence, Alphabet Sequence and combination of number and alphabet.

Sequence Tests are set to estimate IQ of candidates.

To solve sequence questions you need to figure out the pattern and come up with the next logical number of the sequence.

Eg 1 : 1,1,2,3,5, ?

Solution:

This sequence is called 'Fibonacci' Sequence.
1+1 = 2; 2+1=3; 2+3=5; 3+5=8;

Hence Answer is 8.

Eg 2 : How many 8's are there in the following number series which are immediately followed by 3 but immediately preceded by 2?

2 8 4 2 8 3 5 8 9 2 8 6 3 8 3 2 8 3 6 9 7

1) None 2) One 3)Two 4)Three 5) More than three

Solution:

You are required to find, how many times the group '283' is there in the given series.

Answer is (3) Two Times the '283' group repeated.

Eg 3 : How many 6's are there in the following number series which are exactly divisible by both its immediately preceding and succeding numbers.

5 6 2 6 3 4 6 7 6 3 6 2 1 4 6 5 6 1 6 4 7 2 6 5

1) One 2) Two 3)Three 4) Four 5)None

Solution:

You are required to find the 6's should exactly divides by the number before '6'and after '6'.

-> 263, 362; 2 and 3 are exactly divides 6 and Hence Answer is (2) Two Times

1)How many 7's are there in the given number sequence which are immediately preceded by 5 and immediately followed by '3'?

3 7 5 7 4 5 7 3 9 7 8 5 7 8 9 7 1 5 7 6 5 7 4 3 7 5 7 3 8

1)None 2)One 3)Two 4)Three 5)More than three

2)How many 0's are present in the following sequence of numbers which are preceded by a prime number and followed by a perfect square number?

3 0 5 8 5 0 9 2 9 0 4 4 0 4 6 0 9 7 0 4 1 0 8 4 0 6

A perfect number is a positive integer that is equal to the sum of its proper positive divisors, that is, the sum of its positive divisors excluding the number itself (also known as its aliquot sum).

1)Two 2)Three 3)Four 4)Five 5)None of these

3)In the series given below how many odd numbers are there which are preceded by an vowel and followed by a consonant.

1 2 A B 4 7 F G 9 3 A 5 E 4 H 7 0 5 N 6 1 3 L

1)Zero 2)One 3)Two 4)Three 5)None of these
