Reasoning

Series Concept :

Series Completion is of two types. They are number Series and Alphabet Series.

->To Solve a question in number Series, understanding the pattern is very important.

a)Look at the numbers and find if there exists any particular sequence (increasing or decreasing).

b)See Whether the basic numbers are Squares, Cubes, Prime Numbers, Odd Numbers, Even Numbers.

c)If (b) does not exists, then the difference between the numbers has to be observed.

Eg 1 : 1 4 9 16 -

Solution:

Observe that all the numbers are the Squares of consecutive natural numbers starting from 1.

Hence the next square is 25.

Eg 2 : 2 4 6 8 -

Solution:

Observe that the numbers are in Incresing order and the difference between them is 2.

Hence the answer is 10 (+2).

To Solve a question in Alphabets

a)Observe the difference betweent the alphabets.

b)Look for alphabet pairs.

Eg 1 : A E I O -

Solution:

All are vowels, hence next vowel is U.

Eg 2 : AZ BY CX -

Solution:

A,B,C, are consecutive alphabets and Z,Y,X are their respective pairs.

Hence the answer is DW (pair of +1 and -1)

1)EF 2)GH 3)IJ 4)DE 5)DW

Series is pair of +1 and -1

1-26 pair; 2-25 pair, 3-24 pair Hence 4-23 pair is Answer i.e. DW

4)CAT FDW IGZ ---

1)KJA 2)KTC 3)LHD 4)LJC 5)None of these

Series of +4,+4,+4 Hence LJC

5)ABCD BDDE CFFF ---- EJMH

1)DGGG 2)CCHG 3)EHIG 4)DHHG 5)None of these

First Letter +1 series, Second Letter +2 series, Third Letter +1 +2 +3 +4 and so on, Fourth Letter +1 series. Hence Answer is 4)DHHG
