First Stage ALP RRB CBT - Syllabus / Exam Pattern : 2018

Ist Stage Exam Pattern :

1)First Stage CBT (Common for ALP/Technician) : Duration: 60 Minutes ; No of Questions: 75.

2)Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories : UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%.

3)The score of first stage exam shall be used only for short listing of candidates for second stage exam as per their merit

 

Pleae note that There is no Subject wise fixed marks for ALP,Technician Online Computer Based Test as per Previous Exams. No. of Questions from each subject may vary from exam to exam and session to session. So it is suggested to be thorough in all concepts as per detailed syllabus given below.

Second Stage RRB CBT - Syllabus / Exam Pattern :

 

Total Duration: 2 hours and 30 Minutes (for Part A and Part B together)

 

PART A:
Duration: 90 Minutes,
No of Questions: 100

Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories: UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%.

The marks scored in Part A alone shall be used for short listing of candidates for further stages of recruitment process subject to the condition that the candidate is securing qualifying marks.

 

2nd Stage Part A Syllabus:

a. Mathematics :

Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages,Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

b. General Intelligence and Reasoning:

Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and decision making, Similarities and differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

c. Basic Science and Engineering:

The broad topics that are covered under this shall be Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational
Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy etc.


d. General Awareness:

Current Affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subjects of importance.

 

2nd Stage Part B:
Duration: 60 Min,
No of Questions: 75
Qualifying Mark: 35 % (This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible)

 

This part is qualifying in nature and shall have questions from the trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET). Candidates with ITI/Trade Apprenticeship qualification will be required to appear in the section having questions from the relevant trade. Candidates holding Degree, Diploma and HSC (10+2) having eligibility for the posts of ALP have to select relevant trade from the list of trades listed against their engineering discipline/HSC (10+2). The trade syllabus can be obtained from the DGET website

Computer Based Aptitude Test for Only ALP


Computer Based Aptitude Test (Only for candidates who have opted for ALP) Qualifying marks: The candidate needs to secure a minimum score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible.

 

Negative Marking: There shall be negative marking for incorrect answers in First and Second Stage CBT. 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question shall be deducted for each wrong answer. There shall be no negative marking for Computer Based Aptitude Test.

RRB CBT-Non Technical 2016 Test / Exam Pattern and Syllabus

  1. RRB CBT (Computer Based Test) shall be Objective Multiple Choice type. The question paper will be in English, Hindi, Urdu and Local Languages.

  2. Test Duration is 90 Minutes and 100 multiple choice questions. Each Questions carries 1.5 / 1.0 Marks, Try RRB CBT Mock Test.

  3. There is negative Marks for incorrect Answer. Each incorrect answer attracts 1/3 of marks allotted to that question.

  4. CBT Computer Based Test is common for All Categories of posts.

  5. for Commercial Apprentice CA, Traffic Apprentice TA, ECRC and Goods Guards - Stage 1 i.e. CBT and Documents Verification.

  6. for JAA, Sr. Clerk, Sr.Time Keeper - CBT , Typing skill Test and Verification of Documetns.

  7. for ASM, Traffic Assistant TA - CBT, Aptitude Test followed by Documents Verification(need to bring Vision certificate from an eye specialist for Aptitude Test)

  8. The merit in CBT only considered for calling for Typing Test / Aptitude Test / Document Verification.

  9. Exemption in Typing Test may extended to PWD (PH candidates)

  10. CBT  Questions include 1) General Awareness 2) Arithmetic 3) General Intelligence 4) Reasoning.

  11. General Awareness (20 Questions) – Questions pertained to Current Affairs, Finance and Economic, Budget related updates, Sports, honours, science abbreviations, days of National and international important events and days etc.

  12. Arithmetic Ability (25 Questions) : Questions include HCF/LCM, Simplification, decimal, fractions, Ratio analysis, Proportions, Unitary methods, Percentage, Time and Distance, time and work, profit & Loss, Simple and Compound interest, Mensuration(2D 3D) and Data interpretation with graphs or table.

  13. General Intelligence(30 Questions) :Questions belongs  to test candidates’ Mental Ability, IQ , Presence of Mind and Analytical Ability.

  14. Reasoning (25 Questions): Questions incude Verbal and Non verbal; Verbal questions are number series, Alphabet, test of direction sense,Coding-decoding, number ranking, arithmetical reasoning, age calculations, blood relations, analogy etc. Non-Verbal questions are Non-verbal-series, mirror images, cubes & dice, grouping identical figure.
